The Land Show

October 1st, 2016

This week, The Land Show featured an in-the-field land business segment from the Montgomery Stockyards. Dave and friend Jeff Harrington attended the weekly cattle auction and interviewed Montgomery Stockyard owner Jerry Etheridge. Etheridge is also the president of the Livestock Marketing Association. The Montgomery Stockyards hosted world champion livestock auctioneer Andy White from Ohio to call the sale. Dave and Jeff enjoyed lunch at the Stockyard Café, known for its great beef dishes and homestyle “meat and three” lunches.

Also on The Land Show this week, Kyle Ingalls discusses holding and selling timberland through a self-directed IRA. Dave and Kyle invite listeners to attend a Land IRA Event sponsored by Southeastern Land Group and Advanta. The event will be Oct. 20 at the Balch and Bingham Law Firm in Birmingham starting at 6:30 p.m.

Finally, Jonathan Goode talks about the history of Elmore County and how close the vote was between Montgomery and Wetumpka to be the state capital. George Mann talks about how it’s been a great year for young deer and turkey, and Russ Walters talks about tractor plowing peanuts in Covington County.
