The Land Show Episode 57

The Land Show

October 29th, 2016

This week, The Land Show with Dave and Johnny hosts Tommy Tidwell with the Alabama Wildlife Federation. Tommy talks about coordinating the statewide wild game cook-offs and previews cook-off events that are upcoming in Talladega and Mobile. The cook-offs raise money for the Alabama Wildlife Federation’s conservation efforts. Next, Russ Walters talks about the stability of commodity prices at harvest time and the fact that farmers prefer a fall drought over a summer drought. George Mann reports from pheasant hunting in South Dakota with his family and discusses quail and dove hunting opportunities in Alabama. Also on this week’s episode, Lake Martin’s Capt. David Hare catches saltwater striped bass, and Tim Baker is out in the field trapping beaver and eradicating dams. Both David and Tim talk about the current drought’s upsides, including increased fish numbers and decreased beaver numbers, respectively.
